About the Project

Aneo took over the Långåsen project from Nordex in 2020. A permit was previously in place for seven wind turbines with a maximum height of 190 meters and a total installed capacity of 17.5 MW. The project was not realized before the permit expired at the turn of the year 2023/2024, partly due to delays in the grid connection.

Since then, developments in wind turbine technology have made it possible to produce more energy with fewer and taller turbines. A new application submitted in 2024 included up to seven wind turbines with a maximum total height of 290 meters and an expected annual production of around 200 GWh.

If the project is realized, it could contribute to increased access to renewable energy in the region and strengthen the power base for industry and business.

Potential contributions to the local community

16.5 million NOK in tax revenues

Estimated municipal and county taxes from the regional workforce during the construction period.

An annual reduction of 120,000 tonnes of emissions

Expected reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to alternative power generation.

1% to local initiatives

Allocation to local business and community life, equivalent to around NOK 33 million over the lifetime of the project.

Why Aneo?

The renewable energy group Aneo was established in the fall of 2022 through a collaboration between the energy company TrønderEnergi and the investment fund HitecVision. We have just over 180 employees, with our headquarters in Trondheim.

Aneo is built on 70 years of experience in the development and operation of large power projects. Aneo owns and operates 13 wind farms and two solar power plants in Norway, Sweden, and Finland, with production in all three countries. Additionally, the group holds a stake in Sunna Group AB, which develops, builds, and operates solar power plants in Sweden. Aneo also has several subsidiaries in areas such as energy services, mobility, and development.

We have extensive experience collaborating with municipalities, where we have built strong relationships with both residents, politicians, and the administration. Together with local authorities, we are creating the energy solutions of the future, with a focus on safety and presence in the local community.

Aneo operations building in Åfjord municipality

One of the things that sets us apart from most of our competitors is that when Aneo seeks to build a wind power plant in a Norwegian municipality, it's with long-term intentions in mind, not to sell the project or power plant onward. We invest to build, build to own, and own to operate. This means that we are here now, during any construction process, and of course, every single day throughout the power plant's lifespan.

Ripple effects

More jobs

The wind power project could contribute around 37 regional FTEs during the construction phase and 2–3 local FTEs during the operational phase.

Local value creation

The goal is to use local and regional labor wherever possible. During construction and operation, the project will be able to generate business for accommodation, service, transport, and suppliers in the area.

Funding for local development

Local initiatives can receive support through community development funds. These funds can be used for purposes such as business development, community organizations, or local energy initiatives.

Climate and environmental contribution

Wind power production can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and strengthen the supply of renewable power, which is necessary for the electrification of industry and transport.

About the planning area

The planning area is located in Ånge Municipality in Västernorrland County. The town center of Ånge and Parteboda are located approximately five kilometers northwest and northeast of the area. The nearest residential properties are found about four kilometers southeast of the project area, with holiday cabins in Nybodarna in the same direction.

The terrain consists mainly of forested areas with existing logging roads, which provides excellent conditions for development with limited new interventions. The design of turbine placements has been carried out with consideration for natural values and the municipality's spatial plan.
