Kokelv Wind Farm

Project Development

More stable power production with wind power and pumped storage

Kokelv, Hammerfest

The Kokelv wind power project is located in the Municipality of Hammerfest, on the Porsanger Peninsula. Factors like wind conditions and proximity to Melkøya are favorable for the project.

Expected Annual Production

800 GWh

About the Project

On Melkøya lies Equinor's facility, which from 2030 will require over 3 TWh of power annually. Generally, there is also a need for more power and grid capacity in Finnmark. The unique aspect of this project is that we are also considering the possibility of combining it with a pumped storage power plant, which we believe will be beneficial for the power system in Finnmark.

A planning initiative has been submitted to Hammerfest municipality, and there will be a launch meeting with the municipality in the near future. There is an extensive process remaining before its decided if it can be builtt.

About the Project

Up to 50 turbines

The number, sizes, and locations within the planning area will come in a later phase. The turbines are expected to have a maximum height of up to 200 meters.

Power production of over 800 GWh

The power production is expected to exceed 800 GWh, which will provide electricity to approximately 50,000 households.

Pumped-storage power plant up to 100 MW

The pumped storage power plant is intended to have a capacity of up to 100 MW

Why Aneo?

The renewable energy group Aneo was established in the fall of 2022 through a collaboration between the energy company TrønderEnergi and the investment fund HitecVision. We have just over 180 employees, with our headquarters in Trondheim.

Aneo is built on 70 years of experience in the development and operation of large power projects. Aneo owns and operates 13 wind farms and two solar power plants in Norway, Sweden, and Finland, with production in all three countries. Additionally, the group holds a stake in Sunna Group AB, which develops, builds, and operates solar power plants in Sweden. Aneo also has several subsidiaries in areas such as energy services, mobility, and development.

We have extensive experience collaborating with municipalities, where we have built strong relationships with both residents, politicians, and the administration. Together with local authorities, we are creating the energy solutions of the future, with a focus on safety and presence in the local community.

Aneo driftsbygg i Åfjord kommune

One of the things that sets us apart from most of our competitors is that when Aneo seeks to build a wind power plant in a Norwegian municipality, it's with long-term intentions in mind, not to sell the project or power plant onward. We invest to build, build to own, and own to operate. This means that we are here now, during any construction process, and of course, every single day throughout the power plant's lifespan.

Impacts on the municipality

Increased community activity

The construction of the wind power plant will generate significant activity during the building phase and create some permanent jobs afterward.

Revenues for the municipality

The annual revenue for the municipality will be around 40 million NOK.
