Where the wind blows freely in the Baltic Sea

Kårehamn, Borgholm

The Kårehamn wind farm is located in open waters east of Öland and came into operation in 2013. With 16 turbines, it is one of the few offshore wind farms in Sweden and produces renewable electricity equivalent to the power consumption of around 34,000 households.

About the Project

Kårehamn wind farm is located about seven kilometers east of Kårehamn on Öland, in the Swedish part of the Baltic Sea. The park consists of 16 Vestas V112 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3 MW and a hub height of around 80 meters. The total installed capacity is 48 MW.

Production from the facility accounts for a significant share of Öland's electricity consumption and contributes to a more stable and renewable energy supply in the region. The offshore location provides good and steady wind conditions, which supports efficient power generation over time.
