Sustainability in Aneo
As a renewable energy company, we have a special responsibility to contribute to sustainable development, and we do not take this responsibility for granted. For us, sustainability is about more than just producing renewable energy – we must also ensure that our operations do not impose unacceptable costs on the climate and nature.

Our approach to operating sustainably
We hold ourselves to higher standards
The world faces major challenges, and climate change has rightly received a great deal of attention. At the same time, the need for greater focus on nature and biodiversity has become increasingly clear, highlighted by, among others, the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and WWF. Their reports show an alarming trend: the loss of species and ecosystems threatens our livelihoods and weakens nature’s ability to withstand change.
IPBES is clear that the loss of nature is as serious as climate change. If we are to succeed in a sustainable transition, we must therefore protect both nature and the climate – at the same time.
Responsible management of renewable resources
At Aneo, we manage important resources and have a responsibility to develop sustainable solutions that contribute to positive social development. As a driver of renewable energy, we will ensure that our solutions support both the climate, nature, and the communities we are part of.
Our facilities shall be designed, built, and operated with consideration for nature and the residential environments around us. We set high standards for environmental safety and personal safety – both for our own employees and for society. All energy production at Aneo is renewable, and we will be a driving force for the further expansion of green energy. We comply with government environmental requirements and regulations with the aim of minimizing our impact and ensuring that development takes place in a responsible and sustainable manner.
Collaboration to Create Lasting Change
The sustainability challenges we face are too complex for any single actor to solve alone. We believe in collaboration and shared effort, taking responsibility for our contribution while respecting the role others play in the bigger picture.
We support the UN Sustainable Development Goals because we see that our contribution makes a difference. In particular, we have chosen to focus on eight goals that are closely linked to our business: 5 – Gender equality, 7 – Clean energy for all, 8 – Decent work and economic growth, 9 – Innovation and infrastructure, 12 – Responsible consumption and production, 13 – Climate action, 15 – Life on land, and 16 – Peace, justice and strong institutions.
For us, sustainability is not a checklist – it is a commitment we carry into everything we do.
Environmental Protection

Nature and climate – two facets of the same reality
We always follow the law, but we don't stop there. When we see that the regulations are not enough, we hold ourselves to stricter standards. We continuously work to be transparent, learn more, and understand the consequences of our choices.
We recognize that the nature crisis is just as serious as the climate crisis. We listen to the signals from the UN Climate Panel (IPCC) and the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and take our responsibility seriously. It is not enough to be part of the renewable solution – we must always reach further.
Consideration for nature is an integral part of our business
Taking nature and the local community into account has always been part of our work, but the insights of recent years have given this renewed focus. Nature and the environment are just as important a part of our sustainability work as emissions reduction.
We recognize that all our activities affect nature – whether through land use or resource extraction. That is why we have a great responsibility to understand the consequences of our choices and work systematically to minimize negative effects throughout the entire value chain.
For us, sustainability is about holistic solutions that bring together climate considerations, nature conservation, and value creation. It is not enough to simply reduce emissions – we must also protect nature.
Our climate ambitions
Our Responsibility in Addressing Climate Change
The UN climate panel (IPCC) has never been clearer than in its sixth major report: Human-caused climate change poses a serious challenge to the global community. We take this responsibility very seriously and work purposefully to be part of the solution.
As a producer of renewable energy, our most important contribution is to help enable a net-zero society. That means our first priority is to deliver clean, cost-effective energy in a sustainable way – in line with the needs outlined by the IPCC. All energy production at Aneo shall be renewable, and we will be a driving force in the expansion of green energy. But we do not stop there – we also set high standards for our own operations.
Our climate goals
01
Climate neutral by 2040
02
55% reduction in emissions (scope 1 and 2) by 2030
03
Continuous work to reduce emissions in scope 3
We work every day to reduce emissions, improve solutions, and drive the energy transition forward. For us, sustainability is about action – not just ambitions.
Our social responsibility entails that we:
Engage honestly and professionally with partners, suppliers, and customers.
Minimize the negative impacts of our operations and implement measures when needed.
Respect the UN's human rights and ensure good working conditions for our employees and suppliers.
Actively work for diversity and against all forms of discrimination.
Take a stand against social dumping and ensures decent working conditions throughout the entire value chain.
Distancing from prostitution. One should never purchase sexual services in a professional context.
Respect for human rights
Respect for human rights
At Aneo, it is fundamental to respect human rights and exercise due diligence in everything we do. We take responsibility for how our business affects individuals and communities, and we continuously work to strengthen our efforts in this area. We respect the rights of everyone who may be affected by our business – whether they are employees, temporary staff, contractors, suppliers, partners, or local communities.
Our commitment to human rights is rooted in our values and ethical guidelines. We always strive to improve and ensure that our conduct and decisions reflect these principles. For us, sustainability is not just about the environment – it is also about people.
The following are our guidelines in our work:
Diligence
Being vigilant is a natural part of being responsible for us.
Responsibility to act with due diligence is embedded in our code of ethics, which is decided by the board.
Here is an excerpt from our code of ethics that applies to our own employees, contractors, and everyone else involved in our operations.
We take responsibility for the social implications of our business operations, including environmental impact, working conditions, and social relations.
We must always strive to ensure that any negative consequences of our operations are limited to a reasonable minimum, and that corrective measures are implemented where necessary.
We must always respect the UN's human rights and the fundamental rights of our employees as expressed through ILO conventions, the Working Environment Act, and collective agreements.
We will always act professionally, business-like, honestly, and ethically.
We take responsibility for ensuring sustainable value creation for our owners, the communities where we operate, our employees, and the broader society around us.
We act with integrity, professionally, and with due consideration for our partners, suppliers, customers, and the wider community.
We always act loyally, professionally, and without personal interest.
We take responsibility for reporting any reprehensible conditions and violations of internal and external rules.
In our business, we have identified the following areas at risk of negative consequences for human rights and decent working conditions:
Activities related to solar power
Aneo is part of the solar industry, and we use solar panels in our solutions. After the report "In broad daylight" was published in 2021 by the Centre for International Justice, there has been significant attention on the solar industry and forced labor. We take this very seriously and are committed to acting with due care in all our activities. Therefore, we conduct due diligence assessments to uncover any potential and actual negative impacts of our operations. In this way, we can identify and implement measures that are either preventive, mitigating, or corrective.
Our priority measures so far related to the issue of forced labor in the solar industry:
Collaboration with other stakeholders: We are actively working to establish the most sustainable supply chain possible together with the industry and Renewable Development.
Setting requirements: We communicate our expectations for attitudes and actions by imposing ethical requirements in procurement and traceability requirements throughout the value chain among our suppliers.
Due diligence: We carry out due diligence assessments to identify, prioritize, and implement the right measures. The issue related to Xinjiang has been on the agenda for a long time, and the EU has launched an initiative to bring a larger part of the value chain back to Europe – see link.
Service deliveries to multinational energy companies
Aneo emphasizes being a responsible actor and service provider in the Nordic power market. In a growing Nordic power market with many financial and industrial owners, we emphasize acting diligently in all our activities. This means that, as a service provider, we carry out due diligence assessments to uncover any potential or actual negative consequences related to activities at our customers.
In this way, we work systematically to prevent unwanted effects of our business activities and to identify necessary mitigating or corrective measures.
Statement pursuant to the Transparency Act
Non-compliance identified and corrected at supplier
This statement is provided pursuant to the Transparency Act, Section 5, and concerns a specific incident identified at a supplier.
Findings identified
As part of our efforts to monitor wage and working conditions among suppliers, Aneo identified non-compliance in 2025 at a service provider to our wind farms. The non-compliance concerned wage levels that were too low, insufficient overtime pay, and missing accrual and payment of holiday pay for several foreign workers. These conditions constituted breaches of requirements for wage and working conditions under applicable Norwegian regulations, as well as breaches of contractual requirements and breaches of Aneo’s ethical guidelines for suppliers. The conditions were identified through our own systematic control procedures.
Measures implemented
When the non-compliance was identified, Aneo immediately implemented measures toward the supplier. The measures included withholding outstanding payment, a temporary halt to ongoing work, and a requirement for immediate corrective actions. At the same time, Aneo provided guidance and training to the supplier on relevant regulations.
Aneo has verified that affected workers have received back payment of outstanding wages, overtime pay, and holiday pay. In addition, the supplier has implemented changes to its internal procedures to ensure proper compliance going forward.
Preventive and risk-reducing measures
The case has provided a basis for reviewing and strengthening Aneo’s own procedures. The following measures have been implemented to reduce the risk of similar non-compliance in the future:
Clarification and tightening of contractual requirements
Increased follow-up, control, and auditing of suppliers
Stronger emphasis on continuous monitoring of working and wage conditions
The risk of similar breaches is considered reduced as a result of the measures implemented, but it cannot be fully eliminated. Follow-up of suppliers and monitoring of compliance will therefore continue as part of Aneo’s ordinary due diligence work.
The case is included in our annual due diligence assessments and will be described in our statement under the Transparency Act for 2025.
Health, Safety, and Security
Our goal is zero work-related accidents, injuries, and illnesses, and we work systematically to create a safe workplace – both for our employees and partners.
Safety first – always
We believe that all accidents can be prevented through structured safety work. That is why we have high standards for HSE and expect the same from our suppliers. Systematic work, learning, and continuous improvement are essential to reducing risk and ensuring a healthy working environment.
A good working environment creates engagement and a sense of security. We ensure that risks are managed responsibly and that all employees have access to occupational health services.
Security – A Collective Responsibility
We will prevent, detect, manage, and respond to all unwanted security incidents. While responsibility for security rests within the line management, everyone at Aneo is responsible for maintaining a strong security culture. Protecting our employees, assets, and operations is crucial to our success. Our security efforts are comprehensive and cover three areas:
Physical security
Protects employees and also prevents and responds to vandalism, theft, espionage, and similar activities in our areas.
Personnel Security
Prevents misuse of access rights to our systems.
Information Security
Ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.
Preparedness and Continuous Operation
We have a corporate preparedness strategy that is tailored to meet both external requirements and our own high standards. Our preparedness work involves detecting, alerting, implementing measures, normalizing, and evaluating situations that may affect our operations.
The main goal of preparedness is to protect:
01
Life and Health
02
External environment
03
Our values and value creation
04
Reputation
Our management system is based on regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices. The emergency response is operational 24/7/365, and our emergency phone line is central to incident management. For us, safety is about more than rules—it involves attitudes, responsibility, and action. We work every day to ensure a safe and resilient organization.
Sustainability Reporting
Our journey towards a greener future
