Ståle Gjersvold, CEO of TrønderEnergi/Aneo, will act as the moderator in the debate "How can the energy industry become relevant in the green transition?", on Wednesday, August 17th during Arendalsuka.

What is the role of energy companies in the green transition? Can regional power companies become Nordic renewable energy players? Is TrønderEnergi about to revolutionize the entire energy industry?

Hopefully, you will receive the answers on the renewable boat “Legacy of the Fjords” on Wednesday and Thursday during Arendalsuka when TrønderEnergi organizes two important energy debates – with exceptionally strong panels. You must be there! Either physically in Arendal or via live streaming on the internet.

- We are very excited to be physically present during Arendalsuka. Energy, environment, climate, and the green transition are closely linked, and we hope to host some of the most exciting debates on these topics at Arendalsuka. We certainly have a formidable lineup of debaters, so this looks promising, says Stig Tore Laugen, the Executive Director for Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility at TrønderEnergi/Aneo.

Dedicated Renewable Boat in Pollen

Together with Energi Norge and a number of players in the renewable industry, TrønderEnergi will join the Legacy of the Fjords, one of the world's first emission-free and all-electric cruise ships, which will be a central meeting place for the power industry and politicians during Arendalsuka. The boat is located centrally, “in the middle of" Pollen.

- We hope as many as possible will come to the renewable boat. We have room for 200 people, and you can join our debates there. Everyone else can follow what happens via a live broadcast, informs Laugen.

You can also “warm up” a bit for the debates by reading this op-ed in Dagens Næringsliv, which CEO Ståle Gjersvold has in print on Monday: “There is a big elephant at Arendalsuka”.

These are TrønderEnergi's two events during Arendalsuka 2022:

What can the Norwegian energy industry do to contribute to the green transition? What is the energy industry's role and task in electrifying Norway and the Nordics? We have gathered a particularly competent panel to engage in the debate on the electric boat "Legacy of the fjords", docked in Pollen.
Cicero Director Kristin Halvorsen opens the debate by discussing what needs to be done, including how to gain acceptance for development and higher energy prices. The debaters then engage – under the leadership of TrønderEnergi's CEO, Ståle Gjersvold. You must be there; this will be both exciting and educational. Keep your phone ready, as there will also be a Kahoot during the session.

Participants:

  • Tina Bru, 1st Deputy Leader of the Conservative Party/Member of Parliament for the Conservative Party

  • Kristin Halvorsen, Director, CICERO Center for Climate Research

  • Hilde Tonne, CEO, Statnett

  • Kjetil Lund, Director of Water Resources and Energy, NVE

  • Åslaug Haga, Managing Director, Norwea

  • Ståle Gjersvold (debate leader/moderator), CEO, TrønderEnergi/Aneo

The majority of power production in Norway is publicly owned. The regional utilities are owned by municipalities and counties. How can these entities contribute to implementing the green transition? How can one access capital to expand renewable energy? Is further expansion necessary? This spring, municipally owned TrønderEnergi has teamed up with the energy fund HitecVision to establish a new Nordic renewable group, Aneo. The ambition is to become a leading renewable player in the Nordics. Is this the path for regional utilities? Is this the path we must take to successfully implement the green transition? Are we on the verge of a game-changer in the energy industry? We have assembled a very strong and diverse panel to debate both needs and measures during Arendalsuka - on the renewable boat "Legacy of the fjords" which is docked in Pollen.
Partner and industry leader in PwC, Stian Gårdsvoll, will give a brief introduction about industry trends and requirements before we set the debate and the debaters free.
The debate leader/moderator will be the Executive Director for Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility at TrønderEnergi, Stig Tore Laugen. We want to involve the audience, and there will be Kahoot during the session! We will also offer a light snack. This will be exciting - you must be there!
