The renewable group Aneo becomes a new member of the European renewable network Smart Energy Europe – SmartEn.
Brussels-based SmartEn brings together European renewable energy actors and works towards an efficient transition from a fossil to a renewable society, based on smart, technological, and consumer-friendly energy solutions.
– We are pleased that Aneo is becoming part of the smartEn family, and we look forward to working together to realize our vision of a digital, decentralized, decarbonized, and flexible energy sector with the consumer at the forefront, says the director of smartEn, Michael Villa.
Consumer at the Center
SmartEn's vision is that “every European benefits from playing an active role in the green transition,” and is focused on creating solutions that make everyday life easier.
– SmartEn places the consumer at the heart, and works to break down barriers that currently hinder a flexible transition from a fossil-based society to a renewable society. SmartEn works extensively, among other things, to facilitate more local power production, which is often hindered by regulations related to the grid. SmartEn also serves as a gateway to the EU, and for us at Aneo, it is important to participate to stay updated and gain insight into what is happening in the EU, says Karen Byskov Lindberg, responsible for energy flexibility at Aneo.
Important Arena
Byskov Lindberg is also an associate professor in energy system analysis at NTNU and works daily to contribute to the energy transition.
– In some areas, we in Norway and the Nordics are ahead of the EU in the renewable sector, while in other areas it is the opposite. SmartEn is undoubtedly an important arena for us to be involved in going forward, says Byskov Lindberg.
The SmartEn network has members from all over Europe, many of whom are large multinational companies. A handful of Norwegian companies are also members today, including DNV, Tibber, and Nodes.
