Aneo is building two large-scale solar plants in Sweden

Update

Jan 16, 2025

The renewable energy company Aneo has decided to invest in and build two new solar plants in Sweden, marking another significant step towards becoming a leading Nordic renewable energy player. The projects have been developed by Aneo's partner, Sunna Group, and will have a total annual production of 46 GWh.

— This investment is part of Aneo's growth ambitions in the Nordics, where Sweden is one of the key markets for us, says CEO Gunnar Hovland.

The two solar plants are located in Falköping in price area SE3, near Aneo's existing wind and solar power plants in the same area. Construction will begin in the first half of this year, with planned completion at the end of 2025 and the first half of 2026. The power plants will have capacities of 13 MWp and 30 MWp, with the latter becoming one of Sweden's largest solar parks.

— We believe large-scale solar power will become an important part of the energy mix in the Nordics, especially in SE3 where these facilities will be built. This investment is strategic for us - in addition to providing both geographic and technological diversification, it will further strengthen our expertise in the construction, operation, and market optimization of solar power, and position us for further growth in this area, says Kari Skeidsvoll Moe, EVP Renewables at Aneo.

Good collaboration with Sunna

CEO of Sunna Group, Marcus Qviberg, is very pleased with the collaboration with Aneo on the development of new solar power in Sweden:

We are very happy to continue our successful collaboration with Aneo, and we look forward to completing the construction of these parks together and managing them in a way that maximizes their potential. With this agreement, Sunna can focus on new exciting projects and contribute even more to the Swedish energy transition.

EVP Renewables at Aneo, Kari Skeidsvoll Moe, praises the Swedish partners and efficient project development and realization:

Our skilled partners at Sunna once again prove that it is possible to develop projects in Sweden at a pace we can only dream of in Norway. Both Sunna and regional authorities in Sweden deserve praise for thorough and effective work that allows good projects to be operational less than three years after project development started.

Aneo invests aggressively in the Nordic market

The investment decisions regarding the two solar power projects are part of the recently announced growth initiatives from Aneo. In June 2024, our first large-scale solar park in Sweden, Henja, also built in collaboration with Sunna Group, opened. In November last year, it was announced that Aneo had acquired the Finnish wind park Kokkoneva, and earlier in the autumn, a collaboration with Fred. Olsen Renewables was established for the management, optimization, and physical power trading of the company's wind farms, Högaliden and Fäboliden, in Sweden.
