The Nordic renewable energy group Aneo and the multinational Danish technology company Danfoss are expanding their collaboration on an innovative energy service solution for the grocery industry. Following the successful establishment of the company Aneo Retail in Sweden, the journey now continues to Denmark.

Innovative and Green "All-in-One" Service Solution

ANEO Retail has developed a unique service model, "Energy as a Service (EAAS)", which allows grocery stores to subscribe to technical facilities as a service.

- The concept provides customers with a highly flexible solution that offers access to new and energy-efficient equipment without significant investments and high upfront costs. The concept is offered with performance guarantees on energy, reliability, and operational costs, providing customers with both security for technical operations and predictable operating costs, says Kjetil Larsen, CEO of Aneo Retail International.

Ideal Partner for Aneo

Aneo Retail and Danfoss established a joint venture in Sweden in 2022. The collaboration is now being extended to Denmark to strengthen the focus on decarbonization in the Danish grocery industry.

- We are very pleased with our collaboration with Danfoss. They contribute with their network and expertise and are an important part of the company's technology development, says Tarje Holskil, Group Director for Marketing and Electrification at Aneo.

- Danfoss is on home ground in Denmark, and with the market position they hold there, and in the industry in general, Danfoss is an ideal partner for Aneo Retail. We are looking forward to starting up and getting to know the various players in the Danish grocery industry, he adds.

- We are proud and delighted to establish the partnership with Aneo Retail. "Aneo Solution" is an innovative service that provides customers with a worry-free transition to and operation of the best cooling and freezing systems on the market without the need for investments, says Jürgen Fischer, President Danfoss Climate Solutions.

- It is a perfect match to combine the strength of Danfoss' first-class control and IoT services with Aneo Retail's proven expertise in project management and service management.

Showcase to the World

Aneo Retail Denmark will serve the Danish grocery market and take a comprehensive responsibility by offering cooling and other technical installations to grocery stores as a service. The company will operate under the same model that Aneo has successfully used in Norway and Sweden.

Aneo Retail Denmark will have its headquarters centrally located in Copenhagen and will be operational in the market from August 1, 2023 – led by Kjetil Larsen.

Aneo's technology and service model will also be employed in the Danfoss Smart Store supermarket, opening to customers later this year. The state-of-the-art supermarket is located right next to Danfoss' headquarters and will demonstrate how supermarket chains worldwide can build climate-friendly and sustainable stores with existing heating and cooling technologies. Additionally, this facility will serve as an application development center where Danfoss will collaborate with partners to develop new technologies and explore energy system interfaces around energy storage.
